- Uphold the organisation’s aims & values
- Respect the need for confidentiality
- Work within the law, agreed policies & guidelines, remits & code of practice of the organisation
- Foster a positive attitude to & relationship with service users, staff & volunteers of the organisation
- Carry out duties & tasks effectively in a safe & sensitive manner to the satisfaction of the organisation
Minimum Requirements For Organisations:
- To have a recruitment & selection procedure for interviewing prospective volunteers & taking up references
- To provide induction training appropriate to the tasks & duties to be undertaken by volunteers. Such training should always include health & safety & confidentiality issues
- To provide appropriate ongoing training if required
- To ensure that volunteers have a clear task description
- To have appropriate insurance in place
- To provide reasonable out of pocket expenses
- To ensure volunteers have a named individual to refer to for support
