Hazard Awareness
Construction sites are high-risk workplaces. Before we begin the Health & Safety induction please take a minute to observe the environment around you.
Be aware of your surroundings and take a note of anything you see that could be potentially hazardous to site workers and visitors.
What can you see? Do you notice objects or situations that could cause an accident?
When you have taken some notes, click on the hotspot to enter the portacabin for an introduction about this module. Once you've been briefed, you'll be able to come back here to begin the hazard hunt and compare your notes.
Instructions
Welcome to the Construction Site Health and Safety VR learning module.
Before you begin please take a moment to read these instructions:
• PC's and Laptops - click and drag your left mouse/keypad to look around 360° degrees and use left mouse button to click on navigation arrows and hotspots.
• Tablets and Smartphones - either swipe your finger or move your device up/down/left/right to look around 360° degrees. Press your finger on navigation arrows and hotspots.
• VR Headsets - click on the icon at the bottom right of the screen to enter VR mode. Move around by pointing and clicking your laser pointer at navigation hotspots.
!Discarded shovel!
Tools such as this shovel shouldn't be left lying on the ground as someone could accidentally step on it and injure themselves.

Someone could trip over this or a vehicle could end up with burst tyres or further damage.

Anyone operating noisy equipment (such as this pneumatic drill) should be wearing ear protection at all times.
This employee should also be wearing a hard hat and safety glasses to protect his eyes while working.

This worker is at serious risk from falling and causing injury to himself and others.
He also shouldn't be using his mobile phone on the site.

These heavy cable reels could easily topple over and roll - crushing someone or damaging equipment.

Exposure to corrosive or flammable liquid can cause burns, breathing issues if fumes are inhaled or, if ignited, causing fire or explosion.

These scattered bricks are a serious trip hazard for workers in this area.

This worker is too busy looking at his phone to notice the moving lorry.
He's at serious risk of being knocked down and injured.
Mobile phones are usually not allowed on a construction site.

These unstable pallets of bricks are stacked dangerously high and could fall on someone causing serious injury.
